Jordan House Intergenerational Frail and AIDS Care Centre

The Jordan House Intergenerational Frail and Aids Care Centre was established in 1927 and is situated in Westbury on the West Rand, provides care for elderly people with a special focus on high care. Jordan House is multi-racial as well as ecumenical and is managed by the Methodist Church and currently houses 90 residents.

The majority of the elderly are not capable of looking after themselves financially and/or because of illness, in this western suburbs based home. Many are confined to a wheelchair or are bedridden and some require constant attention as a result of their mental difficulty.

Metrofile has assisted through the donation of a much needed vehicle that has proven invaluable with transporting the residents to hospitals for the necessary treatment. The donation also included the cost of servicing and insuring the vehicle for the next four years.

A position many charitable organiations find themselves in, is staying financially stable. With only a third of their income provided by the government, Jordan House depends on companies and individuals who are willing to assist with donations of foods, toiletries and the maintenance of the buildings.
