Tsenang Homes of Safety is an organisation offering care to abused, abandoned and neglected children. Based in Muckleneuk in Pretoria, babies and children reside in the home until they are either adopted, taken into foster care or re-unified with their biological families.

Tsenang staff promote the best interests of the children and their families in a family-orientated, culturally sensitive approach by:

• Sourcing, assessing and registering Place of Safety parents
• Providing substitute temporary care for babies and children in crises, while working with the agency to help reunite the child with the biological family or relatives.
• Working with the statutory agency in order to help the child heal his/her relationships with the biological parents, siblings, other family members and/or significant others.

Metrofile has played an integral role in Tsenang’s financial standing, by being the beneficiary to 42 children per month, resulting in a to date contribution of R102 116.

Tsenang is heavily dependant on fundraising and encourages businesses, schools and community groups to organise fundraising events in the form of fun runs, cycle challenges and casual days, where the home can also play a part.

The home has six board of directors, each playing an integral part in the running of Tsenang. A Chairman of the Board, General Manager, Accountant, Medical Practitioner, Community Representative and Safety Parent Representative make up the board.

Tsenang focuses on a stable, loving family environment for educational, recreational, social and, if appropriate, religious experiences. The home runs various fundraising and promotional initiatives, with the assistance of volunteers, as well as distributing donations to other NGO’s, Children’s Homes, community projects and welfare organisations.
